Avi Rose is a long-time social worker and nonprofit leader who has worked extensively in health and human service organizations. In 2021 he concluded 15 years of service as Executive Director of Jewish Family & Community Services East Bay and now works with a variety of nonprofits in interim executive roles.
Avi devoted much of his career to working in HIV/AIDS organizations in several cities, with broad experience that included direct service, community education, and advocacy. In 1999 he received the KQED Community Hero award in recognition of his work.
Avi has distinguished himself by his work supporting staff, providing guidance to boards, and facilitating decision-making processes that empower people and move organizations forward. He draws on extensive experience with program development, strategic thinking, fund development, and public policy advocacy.
Avi earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Brandeis University, a master’s in social work at the University of Southern California, and an additional master’s degree in Jewish Studies at Hebrew Union College.
